XAML Rendering extension not installing

Hi,

I have tried installing the XAML rendering extensions on a new server, 32 bit SSRS 2005 SP3 build 9.00.4053.00. I ran the MSI and selected the instance that was running, restarted the service and I receive the error:

"An attempt has been made to use a rendering extension that is not registered for this report server.".

Can you shed any light on what could be happening?

I would like to recommend that my company purchase this product but I won't be able to do that unless I can get it installed!

I too have the same issue, tried reinstalling, uninstalling, installing with the service on and off, manually installing (didn't need too, the installer already copied the files and made right config entries) - Doesn't work, same error as above.

I even SP3'd my SQL2005/RS in hope that this would kick the extension into life - Nope.

I've spend best part of an afternoon looking at this and I'm out of time now, shame as it looked really good.

If anyone from Perpetuum reads this, I am due to demo this to my boss later this week and if I can fix it up and show it in our product we might well BUY IT!

Hello,
Please specify what edition you use. The installation of Custom rendering extensions are supported by:

EE = SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition
DE = SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition
SE = SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition

Please see the editions options here:

XAML Rendering extension not installing

Hi,

I thought it was developer edition but I've just run a query and its actually Standard Edition which as you hinted at, doesn't support the custom rendering extentions so far as I know...

I guess that explains that, I'll have to see what other editions my collegues have and get them to look at the control.

Thanks,

Matt.

XAML Rendering extension not installing

Hi Vlad,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have tried it on 64-bit Enterprise Edition and a 32-bit Developer Edition, both with SP3.

I initially tried installing it on a 64-bit Enterprise Edition with SP3. This did not work, when I tried manually running the MSI file it did not pick up any running instances of SSRS. I tried manually following the instructions on your site and adding the appropriate changes but it still didn't work. I thought this might be because it was 64-bit?

I also tried it on a 32-bit Developer Edition. This MSI picked up the instance and added the files to the report services bin folder and made the changes to the config file. I have restarted the service on this machine and even tried restarting the machine but it isn't working, I keep receiving the rendering error.

Hello,

Please check if DLL were copied to the needed folder as it is described in the instruction on the extensions setting. Is there XAML extension in the list of extensions in standard viewer? Please try to download the latest version and install it once again. But you should remove all the made changes before this. Please download 4.0.3.8 version here:
http://www.perpetuumsoft.com/Downloads.aspx?pid=116

Please send us screenshots of your actions to [email protected].

And one more. Please check if extensions are available? Please describe what error message you get at launching of our SilverlightViewer. In order to do this include the folder with the “Log” name into your server project. The error message will be saved to log file.
